This project involved the construction of a new Catholic church and parish centre in Paraparaumu. Urban Outcomes Consultant Barry Possenniskie provided project management services for the project.

The church comprises a worship space designed to seat 500, a 50-seat chapel, a connecting greeting space which can also be used as overflow for the church and the parish offices plus facilities, including a commercial kitchen.

Representing the amalgamation of St Patrick’s Parish in Paraparaumu and Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Waikanae, the new Our Lady of Kapiti Parish incorporates elements of the two former churches. The altar is constructed from pews from the Waikanae and Paraparaumu parishes and the large meeting room and chapel are lined with timber panelling from Waikanae.

The new church was completed on time and on budget in early 2020.

Our Lady of Kapiti Parish sits on the same site as the Our Lady of Kapiti School, a 250-capacity state integrated Catholic primary school, the construction of which was project managed by Barry Possenniskie in 2017.
